We can also reveal some parts of the material that is not visible at first. Sometimes, the material is larger than the surface we have placed it on. With the Move tool, we have the ability to move the material on the surface, to any direction we choose. The first command with the red symbol is the Move tool. Let’s find out now, what is the function of these four symbols on the texture: We remind you that the changes we will make will affect only the surface that we have chosen. Every single one of these symbols is an extra command. From there we can change the position and the state of the material that we have chosen, over and over again.īy clicking on Position, we notice, that on the four corners of our material, appear four colored symbols.
In order to use the rest of the commands, for the texture editing in Sketchup, we should first choose the surface with the material that we want to edit, and then right-click on it, then click on Texture, and then Position. We can also bring the texture to its initial state, by clicking the reset color button. The options that Sketchup is giving us, through the «material edit» menu, are very few, as we can only edit the color, the scale and the transparency of the material. The thin and long strips of wood, are impossible to change orientation from the «material edit» menu. Usually, we face an issue with the orientation of a material when we have a wooden floor surface. We select the material that we want our surface to have. We will also see, other options that we have by editing a texture. Further down, we will see how we can achieve that in Sketchup, with a very simple and fast way. One of the issues, that many people face, is how can we change the direction of a texture, and how can we make it larger, at the same time. In Sketchup, we have the ability to process the textures, in a more specialized way, which cannot be achieved from the material panel.
